– FLORA (1987) for flute and harp
“Five Miniatures: FLORA” was commissioned and premiered in 1987 by Martina Wahn, then principal flutist with the Bonn Beethovenhalle Orchestra, and Fabiana Trani, harpist with the Duesseldorf Orchestra. To be the complement, “Five Miniatures: FAUNA” for clarinet, cello and piano was commissioned and premiered in 1995 by Ensemble Mosaik of Cologne, Germany. Both works are so named because the titles of the movements begin with the letters spelling “flora” and “fauna”. The character of each contrasting miniature is very distinctive and reflects its title. This excerpt is played by Duo Herodis with Catherine Goodman on flute and Helen Radice on harp.
