Toccata Mandrake and Toccata Belladonna (1990) for solo piano
These two movements for solo piano are fantasies. The titles demonstrate this, with MANdrakebeing perhaps the more masculine movement (duration ~5 minutes) and Belladonna (duration ~7 minutes) reflecting bell-like qualities and being like a pretty woman (bella donna). Both works display good use of some unusual qualities of the instrument.
You can hear an excerpt from the 1991 premiere in Bonn, Germany at the Brotfabrik, with Christopher Arpin.
